Human Intelligence vs. Artificial Intelligence: Why We Need Both
In today’s rapidly evolving world of Artificial Intelligence (AI), some may fear that AI will eventually overtake the human race, rendering our skills and abilities obsolete. However, this is far from the truth. We need to accept the new technology coming and recognize that AI is not bad or evil, but it is a tool that can improve our lives and enable us to achieve more.
While AI and humans both learn from observing things and conversations happening around us, what sets Natural intelligence (NI) apart is our ability to think critically, make decisions based on emotions and experiences, and empathize with others. This makes NI a much more powerful tool than AI when it comes to problem-solving and decision-making. In fact, AI is nothing but a digital version of the NI.
To stay ahead in this rapidly changing landscape, it’s crucial to enhance our Natural Intelligence (NI) skills and embrace AI as a complementary tool. We can dedicate time to interact, follow, or read individuals who possess greater intelligence or life experiences than us. Moreover, it’s essential to not only learn from their successes but also from their failures. By carefully observing and learning from both, we can gain invaluable insights and knowledge that can aid us in our own pursuits.
Merely acquiring knowledge is insufficient to improve our cognitive abilities. It’s equally crucial to allocate time for introspection and evaluate how we can apply these learnings in our lives. The most influential people or strategic thinkers recognize the importance of taking time away from gadgets and distractions to reflect on their thoughts and ideas. For instance, some people prefer to go for a walk without their phones to engage in reflective thinking. This practice enables the brain to make the necessary adjustments and enhance our thinking patterns.
The power of NI is evident in our creativity, emotional intelligence, and ability to connect with others on a deep level. While AI can generate ideas and solutions based on data and algorithms, it cannot match the creativity and originality of the human mind. And while it can simulate emotions, it cannot truly understand and connect with others in the way that humans can.
As AI continues to automate more routine and repetitive tasks, it will create more opportunities for humans to shift their focus toward higher-level thinking, creativity, and problem-solving. While new technologies may render some jobs obsolete, they will also generate new opportunities and keep us more engaged.
For example, initially, computers and phones were designed to save time and increase efficiency by automating many routine tasks. This led to fears that widespread job loss and unemployment would follow. However, in reality, the increased use of computers and phones has created new industries, professions, and opportunities that did not exist before.
Therefore, let’s not be intimidated by the rise of AI, but let’s embrace it and use it as a catalyst to improve our own natural intelligence. NI will always stay ahead of AI because it is a uniquely human strength that cannot be replicated by machines. With a positive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt, we can thrive in a world where technology and human intelligence work hand in hand. And who knows, we may even teach those robots a thing or two about being human!
